The Perfect Staycation Ideas
Planning an extended vacation or big trip can be stressful, time-consuming, and expensive. If you love to get out of your routine but don’t want a lot of hassle, consider planning a staycation. A staycation is where you stay close to where you live but still try out new things you never have before. Believe it or not, there are probably a lot of things near your hometown that you’ve never even tried out!
Staycations for Families with Kids:
One thing that kids love to do is go swimming! Find a nearby water park, beach, or even a hotel with a pool for them to play in. They can run around and have the time of their lives, and you can relax and soak up some rays. If you live near a lake or ocean, consider some fun water activities like jet skiing or tubing as a fun family activity!
Other fun activities to do with your children are visit a museum, head to a community center for arts & crafts, or sign up somewhere to volunteer. These activities can be fun ways to bond as a family and teach your kids the importance of trying new things and giving back.
Love being outside and reaching new heights? Check out local trails or parks that may be nearby and plan a hike and camping trip. Hike in the mountains or visit a trail you’ve never been to before. If you’re near a lake or river, look into kayaking and canoeing excursions as something to try out. Outdoor adventures are fun to do with either a significant other or with a group of friends. After a long day outside, put up some tents and relax around a fire. You might not be far from home, but you’ll feel like you are!
For a Solo Retreat:
Just want to get away from all the hustle and bustle of your day-to-day life? Treat yourself to a spa weekend, and I don’t just mean your regular manicure and pedicure. Stay somewhere that offers the full spa experience, from massages to facials. Take some time off to relax and rejuvenate your body. If the spa isn’t your thing, look for local outings and retreats. There are many different types of retreats that you may benefit from: spiritual, yoga, health & wellness are just a few of the many.
For a Romantic Getaway:
Book a room in a nice, nearby hotel for the weekend, or even a Bed & Breakfast. For dinner, go to a unique restaurant you’ve never tried before and order something you usually wouldn’t! Get dressed up a bit more than usual and enjoy each other’s company somewhere away from home. It’ll be nice to get out of your comfort zone & try something new. You’ll wake up feeling closer to each other than ever! Enjoy sleeping in, and order-in breakfast from room service! Enjoy your time as a couple.
Get a group of your friends together and head into the city! Even if you all live in the area, pool your money together and rent a house for the weekend. Choose a location close to things to do or a new area of town that you haven’t seen yet. Plan to go to a concert or performance, a big sporting event, or just have a fun night out on the town! Staying with a large group of friends is always a good time, and you’ll experience your city in a brand new light.
More than likely, there are plenty of opportunities nearby that you’ve wanted to try out, but haven’t taken the time to make it happen. Not all vacations have to be thousands of miles away. Sometimes, the most memorable experiences happen in your own backyard.
