Gratitude: Turn your Frown Upside Down
Gratitude – The quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.
Gratitude is a powerful way to enjoy your dash deeply and richly. When you’re grateful for what you have, you spend less time wishing away the moments you’re in and more time appreciating where you’re at in life. Gratitude keeps your mind on the positive instead of focusing on the negative. This mindset not only helps you appreciate the things you have in your life, but it keeps you inspired. It’s been proven that actively showing gratitude actually changes your brain and makes you healthier and happier.
No matter where you are on your life’s journey, you have an opportunity to find gratitude for what’s around you. It is a skill you can develop as time goes on. Use these tips to help you get started on turning your frown upside down with gratitude.
When you’re racing through life, gratitude is hard to come by. When you slow down and fully soak in what’s happening and where you’re going, it’ll be easier to identify things you’re thankful for. This could mean doing evening yoga, enjoying a warm bubble bath, or taking a walk at your favorite green-way to quiet your mind. Putting something like this into practice is a great starting point to finding gratitude.
Speak It Daily
Start your morning by saying a daily affirmation. The more you say something, the more you believe it. Here’s an example:
Today, I am thankful for what I have. I have gratitude for the opportunities in my life, the people I love, and the direction my life is going.
Make it your own. Personalize the saying so that it resonates with you. The longer you say this every day, you’ll notice you start to really mean it. It’s also a great way to set the tone for the rest of your day.
Write It Down
When you notice you’re having a hard time finding gratitude, sit down and write three things you’re thankful for. Even if they aren’t big things, this practice forces you to look at what’s good in your life and takes your mind off the negative. The more you practice this, the easier it’ll become.
Gratitude truly enriches how you live your dash. You’ll be more present, find joy in the small things, and be a happier and healthier version of yourself! See how putting these tips into practice can help change your life for the better.
