‘Tis the season for hustle and bustle. We have so many things on our “to do” lists – shopping for gifts, addressing holiday cards, attending parties, hanging decorations, snow shoveling, and so on – that it’s easy to forget what’s really important. Make a conscious effort to be in the moment, to be present. Focus on people and connecting, not on things, for the things fade away while the relationships matter.
Here are some suggestions for ways to Live Your Dash well this holiday season.
Make homemade cookies and leave them with people you interact with during the day – cashiers, delivery people, receptionists, etc.
When you’re waiting in line for your morning coffee, offer to buy for the person behind you.
Turn off electronics and give your family and friends undivided attention.
Write a letter to someone that had a positive impact on your life.
Make a list of people that are going through a hard time, are lonely, or just need some cheering up. Make an effort to touch base with each one during the holiday season.
Take time to focus on your relationships with friends and family – watch favorite movies, share a meal, play board games, take a walk together, or just sit by the fire and enjoy each other’s company… you get the idea!
Adopt a family through your church or local charity.
Tip well at restaurants. Servers work hard for you!
Keep change in your car to give to the bell ringers.
Offer to do housework, chores and run errands for an elderly neighbor.
